Essex goblins and Reaper beasties

Here are a few more miniatures based up for D&D and 'square-base' wargames like Oathmark, Chaos Wars and Chainmail. First up are some antiquated Essex goblins, which I rather like. They remind me of The Princess and the Goblin - from which Tolkien derived his orcs (minus the toeless and sensitive feet). This range clearly owes a debt to Down in the Dungeon.

Next are a couple of Reaper Bones beasties: a werewolf and a yeti. These will serve as a wulver and buggane in Oathmark, and I fancy that our RPG sessions may eventually feature lycanthropes and giant subterranean apes.

  1. That yeti is awesome, cannot believe it's not made of metal!

    1. Cheers! The Bones range is great for that sort of medium-sized monster. And cheap too, which always helps!

  3. Love the beardy Essex goblin. Can I just ask about your basing? Is that just painted sand and do you build up round the figure base with milliput or similar? Many thanks

    1. Thanks! It's Golden Coarse Pumice Gel. I just slather it on in sufficient quantities to cover the base without an obvious 'step' to the integral base. Then I pop it on a radiator to dry (in winter) or a sunlit window ledge (in summer) or just leave it for a couple of hours. It's great stuff, not least because it leaves figures very easy to rebase (you just slide a knife under the integral base and superglue down the dried pumice gel onto the new base and repaint as required.
